I suppose you could.
Of course, it could be that the tree is the only thing keeping whatever's inside from rampaging over the earth... in particular all over Sakana.
But hey, knock yourself out. I'd suggest bringing several priests of different religions, and keeping a number of holy items around.
You know, in case you get possessed. Or Niyo does. Or Isabel does. Or everyone there does.
